What is the PDCC?
Do you know what is the PDCC? The letters PDCC is the acronym for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control. Here is a quick guide to the PDCC.
What is the PDCC?
PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) is an active roll stabilization system. It is designed to reduce the lateral body movement during cornering maneuvers. It also has the ability to mitigate lateral instability of the car on uneven surfaces.
Anti-roll bars are ypically designed as elastic torsion bars. They connect the wheel carriers of an axle and restrict lateral inclination of the vehicle when cornering. The hardness of the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axle can be adjusted to influence the wheel-load distribution during cornering and therefore the steering behaviour.
As anti-roll bars transfer the forces to the other side, this adjustment is always a compromise between the lowest possible degree of lateral inclination and a high level of suspension comfort with alternating springs. Unlike passive spring bars, PDCC active anti-roll stabilisation can remove this conflict of objectives and even almost completely compensate for lateral inclination. Porsche has created different designs of anti-roll bars depending on the model line. But no matter which Porsche model you drive, the PDCC can improve the ride significantly.
