What is the Type 991?

Type 991 is Porsche’s internal designation for the seventh generation Porsche 911.

Production Years

The seventh generation Porsche 911 (991) was built between 2011 and 2019.

Predecessor

991 followed the sixth generation Porsche 911, known as the type 997.

Successor

Type 991 was followed by the eight generation Porsche 911, known as the type 992.

Production Number

A total of 233,540 cars of the 991 generation cars were manufactured.

Body Styles

991 was available as Coupe, Cabriolet or Targa.
And in 2019, Porsche presented a limited edition Speedster.

Engine

991 models have a six-cylinder flat engine,
either naturally aspirated or turbocharged.

Power Output

991 models have a maximum power output of 257-515 kW (350-700 hp).

Performance

991 Porsches accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8-2.8 seconds.

Top Speed

991 variants have a top speed of 287-340 km/h.

Top-of-the-Line

The top model of the 991-generation was Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

What are the 991.1 and 991.2?

Porsche updated the seventh generation 911 for the 2016 model year.
Code 991.1 refers to the pre facelift cars,
and the 991.2 is the code for the facelift models.

Fun Fact

The millionth 911 rolled off the production line in May 2017.
It was a Porsche 911 Carrera S in special color “Irish Green”.
