Peek Inside – 2014 Porsche Cayman S Interior
The Porsche Cayman cockpit is an environment where the driver is at the center of the driving experience. Take a peek inside the 2014 Porsche Cayman S.
2014 Porsche Cayman S Interior
For the second generation Cayman, Porsche created a new interior architecture that gives a feeling of open space and offers plenty of freedom of movement around the low-positioned sport seats. The standard sport seats provide firm support when the Cayman is driven hard into corners, but are also comfortable on a longer journeys.
The seat centers are finished in Leather. Electric backrest adjustment and manual height and foreward/backward adjustment are integrated as standard. The Sport Seats Plus with firmer padding for greater lateral support were optionally available.
The central feature of the interior is the redesigned ascending center console. Like in a race car, the gear lever is positioned close to the steering wheel to enable fast, efficient, and ergonomic gearshifts. As it should, the ignition lock is on the left.
Three Large Instruments
The three large circular instruments on the panel give you that sporty feel. The rev counter with digital speedometer is positioned in the center. In the Cayman S, the dial face is aluminum-colored, while in the Cayman it is finished in minimalist black. The instrument on the left contains the analog speedometer with digital trip meter and total distance display.
A new feature of the right-hand circular instrument is the high-resolution, 4.6″ TFT color screen. It provides you data from the onboard computer, reminds you of your selected communication and audio settings, enables you to customize vehicle settings, delivers various warnings including alerts from the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and, in conjunction with the optional PCM, displays information from the navigation system.
Everyday Practicality
The Cayman provides also everyday practicality, which makes it exceptional among sports cars. The lockable glove compartment and the compartment with a power socket under the armrest in the center console provide plenty of space. As does the open compartment to the front of it. Other storage features include two compartments in each door, a net in the passenger footwell, clothes hooks on the seat backrests, and two practical cupholders above the glove compartment.
In addition to the luggage compartment at the front, the luggage space under the wide-opening rear hatch is impressively roomy. The front luggage compartment has a capacity of 150 litres (5.3 cubic feet) and is lined with black carpet. The rear luggage compartment has a capacity of 184 litres (6.5 cubic feet) and is lined with carpet in the interior color.
