What is the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition?

Porsche 911 (992)

Have you seen a modern Porsche 911 which features some cool design elements from 1950s and early 1960s. That car might have been a Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, a limited edition model created by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Unveiled in 2020, the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition was the first of four collector’s pieces of the Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy.

Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition

Historical exterior and interior design elements have been reinterpreted and combined with the latest technology in this bespoke edition from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. Technically, the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition is based on the 992-generation Porsche 911 Targa. It is powered by a 450 PS twin-turbocharged, flat-six, rear-mounted engine. With the eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission (and Launch Control), the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.6 seconds. The top speed is 304 km/h (189 mph).

An exclusive paintwork choice of Cherry Metallic and the distinctive gold badge logos create an authentic look in the 1950s style. Alternatively, two solid colours (Black and Guards Red), a metallic colour (GT Silver Metallic) and a special colour (Crayon) were also available for this special model. The exterior of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition also features white livery details with a historical design inspiration. The spear-shaped graphics on the front wheel arches are particularly striking; these “spears” recall the early days of Porsche motorsports.

Limited to 992 Cars

A further connection between past and present is provided by the historic Porsche Crest of 1963 on the bonnet, steering wheel, wheel centre caps and vehicle key, and embossed on the head restraints and key pouch, along with the standard 20/21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design wheels and the black classic-look brake calipers.

The interior of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition also pays tribute to the past. The use of corduroy on seats and door trims signals the return of a material already used in the Porsche 356. The production was limited to just 992 cars. A metal badge on the trim panel of the dashboard displays the individual limited edition number.
