Six-Cylinder Engine
The 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 is powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. It is similar to that used in the 718 Spyder and the 718 Cayman GT4. This power unit is equipped with direct fuel injection (DFI), an integrated dry sump lubrication and an adaptive cylinder control.
Naturally Aspirated
The naturally aspirated engine effortlessly revs to 7,800 rpm. Thanks to the standard sports exhaust system, you also get to enjoy the acoustic benefits of a six-cylinder engine. The 4.0-litre engine delivers impressive maximum power of 294kW (400PS) at 7,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 420 Nm is is available between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm.
Six-Speed Manual
The precise six-speed manual transmission is fitted with a dual-mass flywheel. It brings the high power output of the engine directly to the road, and ensures an extraordinarily sporty driving experience.
PDK Transmission
The optional PDK transmission offers four different driving modes (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual). In Sport mode, it operates with faster gear changes. It also shifts down earlier with automatic throttle blips, and supports optimal acceleration with later shift points. The even more athletic Sport Plus mode is tailored for maximum performance. Launch Control is also integrated within Sport Plus, which activates an automatic race start.
Porsche Active Suspension Management
Thanks to standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension, as well as a 20 millimetre lower ride height, the GTS achieves a remarkable balancing act between dynamic handling and everyday comfort. The electronic damping control system continuously adjusts the damping force on each wheel, based on driving style and current road conditions. It offers two settings which can be selected using a button on the centre console. In “Normal” mode, the shock absorption is a blend of sporty and comfortable. In “Sport” mode, it is much firmer.
Porsche Torque Vectoring
The standard Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) improves dynamic performance. the integrated rear differential lock enables higher traction and significantly increased lateral dynamics and vehicle stability during load changes in corners and when changing lanes. PTV also enables outstanding steering behaviour and therefore even greater agility.
Sport Chrono Package
The standard Sport Chrono Package enables an even sportier tuning of the chassis, engine and transmission. In addition to the stopwatch and four selectable driving modes on the GT sports steering wheel, it includes dynamic transmission mounts. These combine the advantages of a hard and soft transmission mounting arrangement and thus increase both driving stability and driving comfort.
Porsche Track Precision App
The Porsche Track Precision app, which originates from motorsport, shows performance-related data on the PCM display. In conjunction with the optional navigation module, you can measure lap times and driving data.
Hi-Perf Brakes
The brake system is strengthened and adapted to the high power output. On the front axle there are six-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake callipers with 350 mm brake discs. The rear brakes feature four-cylinder callipers and 330 mm discs.
Is It Fast?
The 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 3.0 with the manual transmission can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. With the PDK transmission the sprint to 60 mph takes 3.8 seconds and 100 km/h can be reached in 4.0 seconds. The top speed is 293 km/h with manual transmission and 288 km/h with the PDK.
