2020 Porsche 718 Cayman T – 10 Fast Facts
The standard Cayman is great to drive. But for those drivers who love the winding country roads, Porsche created the puristic Cayman T. Here are 10 fast facts about the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman T.
2020 Porsche 718 Cayman T – 10 Fast Facts
2.0-Litre Turbocharged Engine
The powersource of the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman T is a four-cylinder, two-litre, turbocharged engine. It delivers a maximum output of 220 kW (300 PS) at 6,500 rpm. The maximum torque of 380 Nm is available between 1,950 and 4,500 rpm.
Sport Chrono Package
The Sport Chrono package is a standard feature. It offer four modes; Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The Individual mode allows drivers to create a personalised configuration for the PASM, sports exhaust system, Auto Start/Stop function and rear spoiler.
Six-Speed Manual
Cayman T comes as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. When Sport or Sport Plus
mode of the Sport Chrono package is selected, it adjusts the speed differences when downshifting using a dynamic double-clutch function, creating an even more emotional driving experience.
Optional PDK Transmission
The PDK transmission is available as an option. With the PDK, the Sport Chrono package is enhanced by the Launch Control function and the Sport Response Button. If Sport Response is activated, the engine and PDK transmission respond even more directly for a maximum of 20 seconds. At the same time, the PDK switches to a lower gear and changes to a driving mode with higher gear-shifting speed than in Sport Plus mode.
PSM Sport Mode
In combination with the Sport Chrono package, the the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) offers an additional mode that can be activated chassis and assistance systems separately. The sporty “PSM Sport” dynamic driving mode allows ambitious drivers to get even closer to the limit range of their car in a safe environment. However, the PSM remains active in the background.
PASM Sports Suspension
The PASM Sports suspension is a standard feature. It lowers the car by 20 mm making it sit more solidly on the road. It significantly increases the potential lateral force of the Cayman T, which pleases especially the most dynamic drivers.
Mechanical Differential Lock
The 718 Cayman T comes as standard with the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear-axle differential lock. It uses a brake pulse to create angular momentum around the vertical axis of the vehicle when cornering. The result is greater steering precision and agility. The mechanical differential lock supports traction when rapidly accelerating out of tight bends. This improves longitudinal and lateral dynamics and enhances both performance and driving pleasure.
Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts
The PADM system features dynamic drivetrain mounts. They combine the advantages of hard and soft gearbox mounts. The system reduces movements arising from the total mass of the drivetrain, and also minimises vibrations in the engine/gearbox area. This makes the handling more precise and more stable during load changes and on fast curves, with no reduction in driving comfort on uneven roads.
Braking Power
Cayman T is equipped with four-cylinder fixed calipers with 330 mm front discs and 299 mm rear discs. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system is available as an option. It features six-cylinder fixed calipers on the front axle and four-cylinder calipers on the rear axle. With the PCCB the brake discs have a diameter of 350 mm.
How Fast is It?
2020 Porsche 718 Cayman T with a manual gearbox can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 18.3 seconds. With the PDK and Launch Control, the sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 275 km/h.
