Porsche Cayman (987) Aerokit Package
The first generation Porsche Cayman, known as the type 987, was presented in 2005. It was, and still is, a great looking car even as standard. But, there are always those who want their car to look just a bit more sportier. And for those Cayman drivers, Porsche offered an Aerokit.
Porsche Cayman’s Aerokit Package
The Aerokit option for the Porsche Cayman was unveiled in 2007. It was available for both the Porsche Cayman and the Cayman S models. The Aerokit included add-on spoiler lips for the front-end apron panel and a new, fixed rear spoiler.
Designed by engineers at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, the Aerokit gave the Cayman even sportier, more dynamic looks. While the front spoiler lips emphasize the visual power of the air inlets in the front apron, the fixed rear wing creates a strong visual accent when seen from the rear.
However, the Aerokit wasn’t created to just look good. It also improves the car’s aerodynamics. The Aerokit’s components were optimized in Porsche’s wind tunnel to reduce lift at the front and rear axles. So it makes the car more stable at high speeds. Therefore, the aerodynamic components had to be installed as a complete set.
The Aerokit was available for Cayman on all international markets. In Germany, the price of the Aerokit for a new car was 3,500 euros excluding VAT and installation costs. For later customization, the price was 2,950 euros excluding VAT, installation and spraying.
