2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS – 10 Fast Facts

Porsche 718 Boxster (982)

2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS is the even more sportier version of the Boxster. Here are 10 fast facts about the car.

2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS – 10 Fast Facts

2.5-Litre Turbocharged Engine

Porsche 718 Boxster GTS is powerd by a 2.5-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. Thanks to a redeveloped intake duct with greater volume, optimised turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) and increased boost pressure, the engine delivers 269 kW (365 hp).

6-Speed Manual or PDK

As standard, the GTS model comes with a six-speed manual transmission. The Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is available as an option.

420 Nm of Torque

The optimised single turbocharger with VTG and a larger compressor pushes the air into the combustion chambers with a pressure of up to 1.3 bar. This means that the high torque plateau begins even at a low engine speed of 1900 rpm and remains at the maximum value all the way to 5000 or 5500 rpm. The maxixum torque is 420 Nm a manual transmission and 430 Nm with PDK.

Sport Mode

The mode button on the sport steering wheel allows the driver to choose between the Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual driving programmes. In Sport mode, the engine responds even more directly, while the PDK is set up for shorter response times and optimum shifting points to provide maximum acceleration. In Sport Plus mode, these characteristics are even more pronounced and tailored to maximum performance.

Launch Control

In vehicles equipped with the PDK, the mode button can also be used to activate the Sport Response function. This primes the engine and transmission for the fastest possible unleashing of power. GTS also features a launch control function.

PASM as Standard

The standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) improves traction and driving enjoyment, while maintaining comfort. PASM lowers the ride by 10 mm. The PASM sports chassis, which is available as an option, lowers the ride by 20 mm.

Sport Exhaust

The standard sport exhaust system with centrally positioned black sports tailpipes lends the flat engine an inimitable sonorous tone. The specially aligned interplay of the engine and exhaust flap control and the automatic intermediate acceleration function give the GTS models their distinctive sporty sound.

High-Performance Brakes

GTS comes as standard with four-piston fixed callipers (painted red) with 330 mm front and 299 mm rear brake discs. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is available as an option. It comes with six-piston fixed callipers (painted yellow) combined with 350 mm discs at front and four-piston fixed callipers with 350 mm discs at the rear.

20″ Wheels

GTS model comes with 20″ Carrera S wheels with 235/35 ZR 20 front and 265/35 ZR 20 rear tyres.

How Fast is It?

2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS with the standard Sport Chrono Package and optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. With the manual transmission, the sprint takes 4.6 seconds. The top speed of the GTS is 290 km/h.
