2015 Porsche Cayman GTS – 10 Fast Facts

Porsche Cayman (981)

In 2014, Porsche unveiled the first ever Cayman GTS. This was the ultimate Cayman designed to maximise the road and track driving pleasure. Here are 10 fast facts about the 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS.

2015 Porsche Cayman GTS – 10 Fast Facts

3.4-Litre Engine

2015 Porsche Cayman GTS is powered by a water-cooled, all-aluminium six-cylinder engine, with quad overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The 3.4-litre flat-six with direct fuel injection (DFI) and VarioCam Plus delivers 250 kW (340 hp). That’s 11 kW (15 hp) more than that of the Cayman S.

380 Nm of Torque

The controllable resonance flap helps boost mid-range torque. The maximum torque of 380 Newton metres is available between 4,500 and 5,800 rpm.

Six-Speed Manual

The Cayman GTS is fitted as standard with a smooth and precise 6-speed manual gearbox. Shift throws are short and the gear lever is easy to operate. The upshift indicator located in the central round instrument helps you to maximise fuel efficiency.

Seven-Speed PDK Transmission

The 7-speed PDK transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung) was available as an option. It features both manual and automatic modes. With the PDK, gearshifts take place in milliseconds with no interruption in the flow of power. Not only does it help to deliver even faster acceleration than the manual gearbox, it improves comfort and even reduces fuel consumption.

Porsche Active Suspension Management

Porsche Active Suspension Management is fitted as standard. PASM is an electronic damping control system that regulates the damping force based on current road conditions and driving style. In addition to the electronic damping control, the body is also lowered by 10 mm compared to the standard Cayman.

Sport Chrono Package

The Sport Chrono Package, which is standard in the GTS, offers a firmer setup for the engine, chassis and gearbox. It comes with the Sport Plus button, which gives the option of a harder damper setting and a more direct steering response.

Dynamic Gearbox Mounts

The Sport Chrono Package includes dynamic gearbox mounts. Selectable by the Sport or Sport Plus button, they reduce the perceptible oscillations and vibrations of the drivetrain and the engine. The result is a sportier performance in the corners.

20″ Wheels

The Cayman GTS comes with 20″ wheels as standard. The tyre sizes are 235/35 ZR20 at the front and 265/35 ZR20 at the rear.

Braking Power

The GTS is fitted with four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed calipers front and rear. The brake discs, with the 330 mm diameter at the front and 299 mm at the rear, are internally vented and cross-drilled.

How Fast is It?

The 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS with the manual transmission can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach top speed of 285 km/h (177 mph). With the PDK transmission (and the Sport Plus mode) the sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.6 seconds. The top speed with the PDK is 283 km/h (176 mph).
