2019 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S – 10 Fast Facts

Porsche 911 (992)

The eight generation Porsche 911 was launched with rear-wheel drive Carrera S and all-wheel drive Carrera 4S models. Here are 10 fast facts about the 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.

3.0-Litre Turbocharged Engine

The heart of the new generation 911 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged flat-six. For the 992 Porsche updated the engine featuring larger turbochargers with symmetrical layout and electrically controlled wastegate valves. It also comes with a completely redesigned charge air cooling system and increased compression. These updrades improve engine’s responsiveness, power and torque numbers, and also efficiency.

450 HP & 540 NM

The six-cylinder powersource has the maximum power output of 331 kW (450 PS) at 6,500 rpm. The maximum torque of 530 Nm is available between 2,300 and 5,000 rpm. The maximum engine speed is 7,500 rpm.

New PDK Transmission

911 comes with a new eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The first gear is shorter and eighth gear longer than before. New PDK is also faster. Faster gearshifts can be experienced when shifting up in manual mode, or in automatic mode when Sport Plus mode is activated.

All-Wheel Drive

Carrera 4S comes with an enchanced all-wheel drive system. The clutch and differential unit is now water-cooled and has reinforced clutch discs to increase robustness and load capacity. The refined front-axle transmission in combination with PTM (Porsche Traction Management) support even better traction on snow, as well as in both wet and dry conditions. In the area of driving dynamics, the precision, performance and load capability for race track use have been optimised.

Sport Chrono Package

The optional Sport Chrono Package increases the sportiness of the 911 even further. The new Sport Chrono Package comes with a mode switch with Sport Response button and PSM Sport Mode. It also includes dynamic engine mounts. Driving modes are selected by means of the new mode switch in the steering wheel, while the currently active mode is displayed in the instrument cluster.

Updated PASM

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is an electronic damping control system that actively and continuously adjusts the damping force on each wheel. In the new 911, the latest generation of dampers feature completely revised engineering offering a significantly enhanced balance of sportiness and comfort.

21-Inch Rear Wheels

Porsche 911 comes with a new mixed tyre configuration with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. At the front axle the tyre size is 245/35 ZR 20. At the rear there are massive 305/30 ZR 21 tyres.

Rear-Axle Steering

The optional rear-axle steering improves both day-to-day usability and performance. It makes the 911 even more agile when cornering. Also the smaller turning circle makes it easier to manoeuvre in urban traffic. At higher speeds the rear-axle steering increases driving stability, for example when changing lanes.

High-Perf Brakes

911 Carrera 4S comes with a powerful brake system. It features six-piston aluminium monobloc fixed brake calipers in red at front and four-piston units at the rear. The diameter of the brake discs is 350 millimetres (front and rear).

Is it Fast?

2019 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with the PDK transmission can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds (in 3.2 seconds with Sport Plus) and to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds (3.4 with seconds Sport Plus). Top speed is 306 km/h (190 mph). So the answer is yes. The 2019 Porsche Carrera 4S is pretty fast.
